Hydradermabrasion

Hydradermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layers of the skin. This process is employed in a series of treatments to achieve the best results. This treatment will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, remove acne scars, clear up blackheads, minimize the size of large pores, reduce sun damage and even out skin tone. It also boosts collagen production which helps with toning and firming the subcutaneous tissues.

How does it work?

We use a wet diamond-tipped wand to abrade the surface of the skin. This results in an increased thickness of the epidermis as more cells are being produced more rapidly and the cells themselves are larger and healthier. The cells of the lower epidermis become knitted in a tighter, more consistent 'basket-weave' configuration, instead of a haphazard arrangement. The barrier function of the epidermis is disrupted for the first 24-48 hrs causing the skin to be drier than usual. During cellular reproduction, the fibroblasts that make the collagen fibres increase in number, are thicker, more tightly packed and organized. The number of elastin fibres also increase and become organized vertically rather than horizontally, giving the dermal layer more 'spring'.

What to expect with your treatment
Your skin will first be cleansed with a cleanser appropriate to your skin type. We then will follow with the wand applying suction smoothly over your skin. Thereafter, a toner, a hydrating mask and a serum is sequentially applied. The treatment ends with a SPF-containing moisturizer. Microdermabrasion is a safe and gentle treatment, but you should protect the treated area for 48 hours by applying sunscreen (SPF60) and moisturizer. You may experience mild redness or peeling during this time. However, you can return to work immediately after your treatment.
One treatment will not provide instant maximum results. It is important to have a series of treatments 1-2 weeks apart. Usually 3-6 treatments are prescribed in rapid succession followed by a monthly maintenance session to achieve maximum results.
